ABOUT POINT GREY CURLING LEAGUE

We are an open and extremely social league. Curlers register as individuals in the Point Grey League; team registration is not allowed. Curlers are assigned positions based on experience and ability, but we make every effort to accommodate people's first choice for a position. Teams are randomly selected semi-annually based on assigned positions.

By switching up the teams twice a year, we have a fall champion and a spring champion. More importantly, it increases the number of people each curler meets and curls with. Each half-season concludes with a social evening featuring festivities such as a gift exchange and individual/team awards.

We also have a unique scoring system that emphasizes participation (teams play for the full two hours) and promotes quick play.

The league currently plays on Wednesday nights with alternating 6:45 pm / 9 pm start times

Sparing in the Point Grey League

Because of the unique format of our league, we are often in need of spares to fill in for regular curlers.

If you are interested in sparing for the Point Grey League, please sign up HERE.

Things to note about sparing in the League;

• You must be a current Vancouver Curling Club or Marpole Curling Club member to be eligible to spare in the league
• As per league rules, spares must play Lead (or Second and Lead if there are 2 spares)
• The league currently manages spares through a community WhatsApp group. You will be sent a link to this group once you have signed up for the Spares List. Teams will post their need for spares on this chat group and those available can respond. We recommend you monitor the group regularly for sparing opportunities. We also recommend responding quickly to openings, as they fill up fast.
• Sparing is a great way to get to know people and get experience with the league, especially for those thinking of playing full time in the league in the future.
